The Upper Hanover Board of Supervisors approved the final plan for a second warehouse at 2512 Quakertown Road at their meeting on Tuesday, March 12.
Present at the meeting was Amee Farrell, of Kaplin Stewart and Engineers, and the architect representing the developer, MH II Pennsburg LLC. The plan to add a second warehouse to the existing site was preliminarily approved by the township in July 2023. No tenant is yet identified.
The supervisors expressed their ongoing concerns with intersections and added truck traffic.
Supervisor Ben Fiorito asked specifically about the intersection of Quakertown Road and Geryville Pike, which is located in Milford Township.
The developer's engineer assured the board that there were plans for improvements after securing the right-of-way from a private property owner.
At one point board chair Steve Rothenberger said to attorney Farrell that she looked "annoyed" with the line of questioning about truck traffic and told her that residents had to live with the truck traffic long after the developer was gone.
The board voted four to one to approve the plan with supervisor Dorothy Diehl voting no.
In other warehouse-related news, township solicitor Joseph Bresnan conducted a public hearing regarding an ordinance with the new requirement on warehouses over 100,000 square feet going from a "by-right" use to "conditional" use.
Bresnan noted that "Warehousing is very hot in the real estate market these days," which made the ordinance a valuable tool for the township. The supervisors approved the ordinance.
In bridges and roads news, the board authorized the purchase of a milling head/planer for $25,624 and a drum roller for $45,550.
They also approved the first draw of funds totaling $77,050 toward the new pickleball courts slated for Macoby Creek Park. The courts are scheduled to be finished by the end of June.
