An alleged Quakertown drug dealer is facing two separate criminal charges. Local authorities arrested Robert G. Zimmerman, 39, of West Broad Street, on March 6.
The most recent set of charges alleges the illegal possession of a firearm, according to information posted on a state judicial website. Zimmerman is facing a combined 11 felonies and seven misdemeanors.
According to the initial police criminal complaint filed in the Red Hill court of District Judge Lisa Gaier, an undercover officer met with Zimmerman on Feb. 23 at the Galaxy Smoke Shop, located at 107 West Broad St. Authorities claim the subject provided a list of illegal controlled substance quantities with associated prices along with a phone number.
On March 1, the undercover officer returned to the business to buy a Mylar-type bag from Zimmerman containing suspected marijuana from the defendant. The buyer also inquired about purchasing psilocybin (mushrooms) from the defendant, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Within hours, Zimmerman directed the undercover officer to the area of a residence. Meeting in an adjacent parking area, the subject sold a Ziploc baggie filled with suspected psilocybin.
While serving an arrest warrant on March 6, local authorities claim to have discovered Zimmerman in possession of a clear plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine and five bags of suspected marijuana packaged for individual resale.
While serving a search warrant for his apartment, police also allegedly discovered two jars of suspected THC substances, along with a digital scale containing suspected drug residue, U.S. currency, and cell phone, a 12-gauge Winchester shotgun – prohibited due to a prior felony conviction in New Jersey – along with ammunition under a pile of men's clothing, numerous packaged baggies of suspected marijuana, a gallon baggie containing suspected psilocybin, edible controlled substances and numerous individual jars of suspected THC substances packaged for resale, according to the legal document.
Zimmerman faces a combined bail of $100,000 monetary in both cases. Ottsville District Judge Gary Gambardella set bail in the initial case at $65,000 monetary and $35,000 monetary in the other during separate formal arraignments on March 6.
The preliminary hearing for both cases, before Gaier, is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.
