Edward V. Keenan
2024-02-10

            Edward V. Keenan of Pennsburg, PA passed away at home surrounded 

by his family on Friday, February 9, 2024.  He was the loving husband of Eugenia (Jean) Keenan and recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. 

            Ed was born in Cheltenham, PA to the late Alberta (Fry) Keenan and Edward V. Keenan.  He is survived by his son William Keenan (Maureen) and grandchildren Liam, Caitlyn and Brendan.  He is also survived by his siblings Alberta Sugg (Samuel), Marcella Carter (William); Regina Martin (Robert); Katherine Donahue (Dennis), Frank Keenan (Ceil); Beloved Cousin, Kathy Palermo (Joseph); Sister-in-law Nancy Soltez (James); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

            Ed is predeceased by: Mother - Alberta (Fry), Father - Edward Keenan and Brother – Thomas Keenan.

            After graduating from Fr. Judge High School (Philadelphia) in 1957 he was employed from 1957 – 1962 at Progressive Metal Co. as a machinist; 1962 – 1964, he served in U.S. Army – Honorable discharge; 1964 – 1966 he worked at Rohm & Haas, Bristol, PA; and from 1966 to 1988 he was employed as an Auto Physical Damage Appraiser with: Service Fire Ins. Co., Yonkers, NY; Horace Mann Ins. Co., INA Insurance Company, John Hancock Ins. Co. and USFG, Balt. MD as -Regional Manager, Auto Physical Damage. After retiring from the Auto Insurance industry in 1988, he was employed with Bel Air Auto Auction, Bel Air, MD as a Certification Manager until 2005.  From 2005 until 2023 he was employed with Enterprise Auto Sales in the transportation division.

            Ed was also a member of the American Legion Post 0242 in Quakertown, Pa.

            A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on February 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073. A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be private.

            Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.

            In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Franciscan Shelter for homeless families. 209 Emmett St., Phoenixville, PA 19460 (www.stmarysfs.org).
