Rev. John J. Scarcia
2023-12-07

            We are saddened to announce Rev. John J. Scarcia, a beloved Catholic

Priest of the Philadelphia Archdiocese, went to the Lord on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the age of 75.

            He was born in Philadelphia to Gilda M. (DiBenedetto) Scarcia of Winter Haven FL and the late Emil Scarcia.  He is also survived by his sister, Janet D. Scarcia of Winter Haven, FL, many beloved cousins and cherished friends.

            Fr. Scarcia attended Father Judge High School in Philadelphia and then earned a Masters in Philosophy from Villanova. He completed his seminary at St. Charles Borromeo and on May 18, 1974 he was ordained as a Catholic Priest.

            Fr. Scarcia was a faithful servant of God and a beloved member of the Catholic community and served as pastor to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Pennsburg from June 16, 1996 to January 30, 2006.

            Fr. Scarcia's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Philip Neri Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Bishop Edward Deliman presiding. His Prayer Service will begin at 9 a.m. and a viewing will follow starting at 9:30 a.m.  A private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. 

            Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.
