Paul Delp Godshall
2023-11-27

Paul Delp Godshall of Green Lane passed away peacefully on November

25, 2023.  He was 97 years old.  Born in Kulpsville, he was the son of the late Abram A. and Erma (Delp) Godshall.

Paul was also raised by the late Elsie Godshall, whom his father married after Paul's mother passed away from tuberculosis when he was two years old.   Paul was also the beloved husband of the late Myrtle (Schwenk) Godshall for 55 years.

Paul attended the J. Henry Specht School in Kulpsville and delivered groceries for his father, who owned and operated the Green Lane Market, formerly Yoder's Store.

At the age of 16, Paul enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served during World War II. He was stationed on the USS Springfield as one of the operators of the 40mm guns.  He also assisted in escorting President Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference in 1945.

Paul raced cars and at one time came in fifth place.  During his racing years he met his wife, Myrtle.  The couple operated two stores together for 26 years until their retirement and enjoyed many years of traveling the world.

Paul is survived by his two daughters, Rebecca Gitney (Anthony) of Palm and Brenda Fetterolf (Tim) of Germansville; and four grandchildren, Anthony Allen Gitney, Jr. (Janet) of North Wales, Amanda Louise Gitney of Palm, Nathan Paul Sisson of Shoemakersville, and Zachary Ryan Sisson of Bend, Oregon.

Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service with military honors on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.

Online condolences may be expressed on www.monaghanfuneralhome.com.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Monaghan Funeral Home, Inc.  (215) 679-6400
