Kraussdale Alpacas is happy to announce its 21st Annual Open Farm Event on November 25th and 26th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bring your family and friends to visit the farm and meet the alpacas, including two baby alpacas (crias), learn more about these amazing animals, feel their soft warm fleece, and see demonstrations to learn about the process of the creation of fabric–from alpaca to yarn.
Alpacas are known for their soft luxurious fiber, which is warmer than wool, contains no lanolin, and is not itchy. They are also known for their mild, even temperament and some of Kraussdale's animals love to be petted.
Since the beginning, Kraussdale Alpacas has been a working fiber farm with a small on-site gift shop, specializing in all things alpaca (farm-made crafts, winter wear, blankets, yarn, toys, and more) at reasonable prices.
Check out the alpaca store for great holiday shopping and farm-made crafts, including: dryer balls, felted soap and cat toys, and the exclusive line of hand-etched glassware.
A visit to Peru in 2001 inspired Maggie Wright to start her alpaca adventure after falling in love with these amazing creatures. Kraussdale Alpacas was founded in 2002 with three alpacas. There are now 15 alpacas on the farm.
Kraussdale Alpacas store is open through the end of the holiday season, on Saturdays and Sundays, and Fridays in December. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission to the farm and educational demonstrations is always free of charge.
