Arlene V. Scheirer
2023-11-07

            Arlene V. Scheirer, affectionately known as "Granny", passed away

peacefully with her grandson, Paul and his wife, Christa by her side on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at her home on Corning Road in Zionsville where she was born, raised and lived her entire life. She was 97 years old. She was the loving wife of the late Paul L. Scheirer.

            She was the daughter of the late Victor and Mabel (Scherer) Schafer.

            She was a seamstress for Stauffer Glove Factory and then retired from Knoll Inc. after 26 years. She was a lifetime member of Old Zionsville UCC where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Upper Milford, East Greenville and Hereford Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed taking bus trips with the Golden Age Club.

            Granny enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, watching birds and listening to her daughter and son-in-law in the country music band, Crazy Willy and the Country Rangers. Most importantly, she loved being "Granny" to everyone; always providing love, support, encouragement and kindness to her family and those who knew her.

            Surviving are her grandson, Paul Shankweiler and wife, Christa; five grandchildren, Melissa, Stefani, Devin, Kimberlee and Natalee; two great-grandchildren, Lila and Hudson; her God-Son, Randy Schmeltzle; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and William "Bill" Shankweiler; sisters, Marguerite Heil, Mildred Moyer and Minnie Miller; and her brother, William Schafer.

            A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Old Zionsville UCC, 5981 Fountain Rd, Old Zionsville, PA 18068 with a burial following in the church cemetery. Family and friends may attend a viewing starting at 9:30 a.m.

            Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville. You may offer condolences and share memories by visiting www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Granny's memory to Old Zionsville UCC at PO Box 215, Old Zionsville, PA 18068.
