Mae E. (Debus) Schoup, 85, of Kutztown, passed away on Saturday, October

Born in Fogelsville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Gilbert) Debus.

Mae owned and operated a beauty shop out of her home for 20 years before working for Dr. Timothy Brendel's dentist office in Orefield for 10 years. After her husband passed away in 1989, against the societal standard, she went back to school in her 50's and became an LPN, working for Bub & Associates Family Practice in Emmaus for 10 years before retiring in 1998.

She enjoyed traveling, singing and bowling. Most importantly, she loved to be around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; especially partaking in their tea parties.

Mae was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, East Greenville.

Surviving are her three children, Donna Howe and husband, William of Pennsburg, Dirk Schoup of Barto and Dana Brooks and husband, Raymond of Kutztown; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Kahler and husband, Doug and Marjorie Trinkle and husband, Rick; and a brother, Kenneth Debus and wife, Alice.  In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by sisters, Marian Hottle, Arlene Sweinhart and Mildred Lapp; and a brother, Robert Debus.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville, PA 18041 with the Rev. Dr. Dave Williams officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45.

Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home. You may offer condolences and share memories by visiting www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
