A last Thursday's Quakertown Community School Board meeting, the board approved the purchase of an outdoor scoreboard with sound system for the multipurpose athletic field.
The digital display measures 13 feet by 26 feet. The digital warranty includes coverage of 11 years for parts, five years of onsite labor and a sound warranty that includes two years for parts and one year of onsite labor.
The digital scoreboard package also includes installation, graphics package, software system, sponsor panel and control system among other items. The total cost for the package is $229,900.
Board member Chris Spear asked, "We don't have options? This is just the one size picked out?" President Glenn Iouse replied, "Yes, that's correct. It was the recommended size."
Under the Office of Teaching and Learning agenda, the board approved a Streamable Learning license for the 2023-24 academic year at a cost of $4,700.
Streamable Learning is a subscription service that includes live and recorded programs. The objective is to provide affordable access to live virtual field trips. The program streamlines the teaching experience by making it easy for a classroom to find, book, and attend livestreams.
"It will be a great supplemental resource to the work we are doing inside the classroom," said Superintendent Dr. Matthew Friedman.
The board approved a contract between The Meadows Psychiatric Center and the school district.
The letter of agreement is to ensure continuity of care when serving individuals enrolled in the district and The Meadows Psychiatric Center. This agreement is for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years.
