At last Thursday's Quakertown Community School Board meeting, an update was provided about the progress of the multi-use athletic field.

            The newly appointed superintendent informed the board that he has been working with Dr. Harner to become acclimated to his new role. They have visited Trumbauersville and the High School during their learning walks. "We are off to a great start", said Dr. Matthew Friedman.

            Dr. Friedman was sworn in as new superintendent on July 5th at the Bucks County Justice Center. He was sworn in by Judge Wallace Bateman, Jr.

            On August 24th, a construction meeting was held to schedule project items. During the last two weeks of September, the Musco lights, turf, and dugouts will be delivered. In addition, the contractor will be drilling holes for the lights and score board. The turf is to be installed by the second week of October. The last week of November, bleachers are on the calendar for delivery. Lastly, the delivery and installation of concession stand and bathrooms will begin at the end of November and continue until the holiday season.

            In other news, a few motions were made under the fiscal agenda involving legal services and financial advisement.

            A motion was made to approve an agreement for Legal Services with Comegno Law Group, P.C. for personnel and labor attorney services.

            The board also made a motion to authorize PFM Financial Advisers, LLC as the District's financial advisor and Fox Rothschild as Bond Counsel to proceed with the issuance of General Obligation Bonds Series A of 2023. The purpose was to refund all or a portion of the General Obligation Bonds, Series AA of 2018.

            A third motion was made to authorize PFM and Fox Rothschild LLP to proceed with the issuance of General Obligation Bonds Series 2024, for the purpose of refunding the General Obligation Bonds Series 2019. This will provide a net savings of $50,000.

            Board member Chris Spear asked if only one form could be used with PFM to save money. Two firms were needed to be utilized because "different opinions need to be rendered", said Solicitor.  All three motions were passed unanimously under the fiscal agenda.

            Two exceptional students were recognized for their accomplishments during the meeting.

            Pfaff students Alyssa Zirkelbach and Diya Patel were the school's top performers in First in Math at the end of last year. Pfaff ended the year ranked first in the district, 15th in the state, and 25th in the nation.
