The Upper Perkiomen School District posted the following notice on ParentSquare:
Out of an abundance of caution due to the local police activity in searching for the escaped inmate in Northern Chester County, the following enhanced security protocols will be immediately implemented across the Upper Perkiomen School District until further notice:
Once all students have arrived for the school day, all UPSD schools will operate in a Modified Secure status. Modified Secure status means that the school staff move all students and activities inside and ensure the building is locked while learning continues inside the school with minimal classroom interruption or distraction to the school day. The Main Entrance of the school building is the ONLY entrance and exit to be used while in Modified Secure status.
Modified Secure includes:

Indoor Recess for Hereford, Marlborough and 4th & 5th Grade Center

Indoor Physical Education Classes for all K-12 students

No Outdoor Classroom activities or lessons

No Courtyard cut-through from the academic wing to the auditorium area at the Middle School

Security Guard present at the school entrance for students that are getting on and off the WMCTC buses

Security Guard presence in the parking lot for mid-day WMCTC drivers as they exit school to drive to WMCTC

Additional external patrols and security door checks from School Security Guards

No entrance/exit from any other door in the school except the Main Entrance

Delivery Drivers must meet a school employee at the Main Entrance to arrange delivery at the Loading Dock Area and the staff member must secure the door during the delivery

Reminder- No Propped Doors

Upon arrival and dismissal, all available employees should be assisting with student arrival and dismissal with an increased presence outside the school building.

Enhanced safety measures for after-school and evening athletics and activities will be reviewed and shared as determined by the building security team.
Any concerns should be immediately shared with the School Security Guard, Building Principal or our Safety and Security Specialist, Mr. Blake.
