Pennsburg Fire Company was called to the scene of a fire in the 1000 block of Lakeview Terrace in borough around 7:05 p.m. on Saturday night.

A man suffered first and second degree burns at this fire on Lakeview Terrace, in Pennsburg, on Sturday after- noon.

            The fire started outside a garage that was located beneath a two-story home and damaged a car and a motorcycle.  There was also some damage to the garage as well.

            An initial report stated that "neighbors and residents are trying to put the fire out with hoses and buckets."

            Pennsburg Chief Phil Zirkelbach arrived on the scene in less than three minutes and reported "heavy smoke showing from the ground-level garage."  He also saw a man running back into the garage and immediately upgraded the report to alert responding units of a victim in the building.

            A prompt response by fire units and quick action by volunteer firefighters had the fire out in less than 20 minutes.

            As emergency units were arriving the man exited the garage with first and second-degree burns on his arms and legs.  He was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital by Bally Community Ambulance.

            According to Zirkelbach, the origin of the fire has not been determined but is considered to be accidental.

            No damage estimate was available.

            In addition to Pennsburg, other companies dispatched from Montgomery County included East Greenville, Green Lane, and Red Hill.  From Berks County, Eastern Berks and Hereford.  From Bucks County, Milford, Quakertown Fire Company No. 1, Trumbauersville, and West End Fire Company of Quakertown.

            Emergency Medical Unit dispatched included Freedom Valley, Bally, Gilbertsville, and Upper Perkiomen Valley.

            Emergency units were on the scene until 8 p.m.
