Fire destroyed a cabin in a remote area of Marlborough Township on Saturday afternoon.

            The call was originally dispatched at 2:30 p.m. with the location being in the 1100 block of Magazine Road near the dead-end and Swamp Creek Road.  A later location was reported as across the Unami Creek from the 2800 block of Swamp Creek Road. Police on the scene reported a fully involved cabin at the location.

            Green Lane Deputy Chief Tom Huguenin, Jr. reported the building to be a 40'x40' cabin, full-involved, with propane tanks venting. 

            A long, narrow access lane limited fire equipment access to the site.  The cabin was located down a steep hill from the path making access even more difficult for firefighters.

            It was reported that the volunteers dropped about 1,000-feet of hose along the tight path to the scene with a single engine able to set up to supply firefighters battling the blaze.

            Water was trucked in by tankers from a site at Sumneytown Pike and Zepp Road to the entrance of Camp Sumney on Magazine Road, where it was then pumped to the fire scene.     

            Firefighters were able to contain the bulk of the fire within 20 minutes.

            There was nobody in the building at the time of the fire. 

            The cause of the blaze is being investigated by the PA State Police Fire Marshall.  According to Green Lane Chief Ryan Crouthamel, no damage estimate was available. 

            During the event there was a report of a volunteer fire police officer from Upper Salford being struck at the intersection of Swamp Creek Road and Geryville Pike.  However, the officer reported that they were "okay" and declined treatment.

            Units from other companies dispatched to assist Green Lane included East Greenville, Harleysville, Lower Frederick, Pennsburg, Red Hill, Tylersport, Upper Frederick, and Upper Salford.  Emergency Medical Service units from Freedom Valley Emergency Rescue also responded. 

            Due to the proximity of the fire to the Unami Creek, the Department of Environmental Resources was notified.

            Emergency units cleared the scene shortly after 5 p.m.
