Here’s to You
2023-06-07

Congratulations to all 2023 high school graduates

As you take the next step in your lifes remember those who brought you up and don't let them down.  To the adults who guided these graduates, take a pride lap and encourage the graduates onward.

Some of you will go on to further your education at a higher leaning institute like college or trade school, some of you will enter military service, and some of you will enter the private sector.  No matter what you choose, always do and be the best you can be.

But, never forget where you came from.  Whether your experiences were good or not so good, remember.  Share the good and work to make the not-so-good better; for you and for others.

Enjoy your youth and wherever the future takes you, never stop learning.  From the books that grow your mind to the training that will enhance your skills.  Judge the teachers because they will be judging you.

Some of you may go on to become elected officials in the community you were raised.  Heck, some of you may go onto become elected officials at a county, state, or national level.

There is not too much that is still what it used to be, and as you enter the future there will be more changes (hopefully for the better).  Do your best to be part of the positive changes and oppose those changes you think are not good.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. You may disagree with the answer but you'll never know unless you ask it.  Avoid those who will attack the questions you ask without giving you an answer.  Their assault on the question usually means they don't have an answer.

The only bad question is the one that was never asked.

Keep your head up and look forward but don't forget the past.  History must be learned so we can feel proud of the good and repeat it where we can, and acknowledge the bad and correct it where we must.

Some of you will become solid, productive citizens of the community you grew up in and some of you will go on and explore and live in other communities.

Give to all of those communities when you can.  Volunteer and serve the people whenever possible.  There is great satisfaction in giving.

So, here's to you, 2023 graduates.  Congratulations and best wishes to all.
