VOTERS GUIDE ERROR
2023-05-11

Due to an error in today's print edition that inadvertantly cut-off a secton of incumbent Magisterial District 38-2-02 candidate Maureen Coggins' information, we are presenting the entry in full and apologize for the error.

Candidate for Magisterial District Judge 38-2-02

Maureen Coggins

Democrat/Republican

I am Maureen Coggins and I am currently your Magisterial District Judge.  I am running for re-election as a registered Republican and will be appearing on both the Republican and Democrat ballots and I am asking for your vote. I have been a resident of Upper Hanover Township for over 20 years.  I attended Franklin & Marshall College and graduated from Widener University School of Law. I have been a practicing attorney for over 30 years.

As a result of my legal training and decades of courtroom experience, I am the most qualified candidate to be fair, balanced and impartial.  I bring that experience and training to every one of the thousands of cases that come before me.

I served as a prosecutor for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office for eight years as the Chief of both the Major Crimes and Special Prosecutions Units, prosecuting the most violent and dangerous criminals in our county.  I have also served as Special Prosecutor for the SPCA, prosecuting animal abusers across the state and as the Chief Public Defender of Lehigh County.  I am an Associate Instructor of criminal law at the Montgomery County Community College and have taught courses for the police cadets at the Montgomery County Police Academy.

Over the last six years, I have served as your Magisterial District Judge.  My approach to my job is simple, I FOLLOW THE LAW.  Judges should not create law, write law or put their own spin on the law.  I am not swayed by any political ideations nor do I make decisions based upon which party or witness I know better. Instead, I use my vast experience as both a prosecutor, attorney and Judge to listen to both sides fairly and apply the law AS WRITTEN.  This is the only way that everyone can be given a fair, impartial and just resolution to their case.  That is what people expect from their Judge, that is what I have done since being sworn in six years ago, and that is what I will continue to do when you trust me with your vote.  Cast your vote for the most qualified candidate - vote Coggins for Judge!!!
