Madalyn Dyer reached a pitching milestone Monday in dramatic fashion as Upper Perkiomen stayed atop the District One Class 4A power rankings with three recent wins.
Dyer recorded her 200th career strikeout in a 16-0 four-inning victory over Upper Merion in the Pioneer Athletic Conference. Dyer and Erin Gray combined to no-hit the Vikings. Dyer allowed the only base runner on a walk and struck out three.
Emily Proctor paced a 14-hit barrage with three hits and three RBIs. Ashley Forrest delivered two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs to secure head coach Dean Sullivan's 99th career victory.
Darby Gasda registered two hits and scored twice and Maddie Deeble drove in three runs for the Tribe, which scored four runs in the first, two in the second, three in the third, and seven in the fourth inning to trigger the 15-run rule.
On Thursday, Gray pitched the Indians to a 10-4 victory over Pope John Paul II in the Pioneer Athletic Conference. She allowed three earned runs on eight hits while striking out 12.
Gasda notched two hits, scored two runs and drove in one for the visiting Tribe, which led 7-1 after two innings and finished with 11 hits. Proctor scored two runs and drove in two. Deeble posted two hits and drove in two runs. Morgan Robinson registered three hits during the Frontier Division game for Upper Perkiomen (9-4 overall, 8-1 PAC).
The top four teams qualify for the league playoffs, which commence on May 23.
Despite managing just three hits and striking out 11 times, the Indians posted a 1-0 victory over Spring-Ford, the defending PIAA Class 6A champions, on Wednesday, April 19. Gray drove in Genevieve McKeehan in the fifth inning for the game's only run.
Gray delivered a double off Rams pitcher Jessica Fliszar, who issued three walks. McKeehan and Proctor had the other hits for the visiting Tribe in a conference crossover game.
Dyer outdueled Fliszar to earn the victory. The senior pitcher tossed seven shutout innings despite allowing 11 base runners. She permitted six hits and registered five strikeouts, throwing 114 pitches.
