Upper Hanover Authority Receives State Grant
Written by Candace Perry, Correspondent
2023-04-12

The Upper Hanover Authority will be receiving $1,000,000 in state funds toward the replacement of a water main, supervisor Ben Fiorito announced at the township Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, April 11.

The current water main is over a century old and extends from Hereford Elementary School to Water Street.

The entire cost of the project is $4.5 million. The Authority will be investigating other means to fund the remainder of the project.

In zoning news, representatives for the Upper Hanover Business Center warehouse project at Route 663 and Quakertown Road requested a continuance of their public hearing until discussions with all neighboring property owners are resolved.

The hearing will be re-advertised in approximately two to three months and letters sent to neighboring property owners, some of whom were in attendance at the meeting.

The supervisors approved several bids at the meeting, including one from Ed's TV in Hatfield for new audio equipment for the meeting room at a cost of $12,508.

Additionally, they approved a bid from Yarnell Paving for a contract of $53,320 for equipment rental, and milling machine rental at a cost of $900 per hour. They authorized bids from Highway Materials for paving materials.

Parks and Recreation chair Stefan Laessig reported that the Eagle Scout trail project for Mill Hill was completed and that it "went like clockwork."
