Jay A. Miles
2023-04-11

Jay Albert Miles entered his heavenly home on April 1, 2023 at the age of 69.

Jay was born to Charles and Ethel Miles on May 31, 1953 in Ocean Grove, NJ.

As a child, Jay loved riding his bike around town and fishing. His desire to become a firefighter originated as a child, when he followed the fire trucks to their destination. He was raised to love God and answered the call to pursue education in the ministry. Jay attended Northeast Bible College where he received his Bachelor of Science in Bible. There he met Victoria, married in 1974 and went on to have two children, Crystal and Amanda. Jay served in various pastoral roles starting in Carbondale and Green Lane, PA. Jay and Vicki raised their daughters in Pennsburg, PA where they fulfilled the role of Children's Pastor at Lighthouse for 20 years.

In addition to being a loving husband and father, Jay was also passionate about his community. He served as a volunteer firefighter/chaplain with Pennsburg Fire Company for 30 years, and enjoyed working part time as an EMT at Upper Perkiomen Valley Ambulance for 17 years. In addition, Jay assisted the Montgomery County Critical Incident Stress Management Team. He was a Merck EMT and ran with the West Point fire department during his 23 years of employment.

In 2020, he retired from Merck which gave him more time to enjoy his favorite hobby, fishing. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

Jay is survived by his wife, Victoria; daughters, Crystal (David) and Amanda (William); grandchildren, Alyssa, Adriana, Luca, Adaline, and Kylan; and his brother, Daniel Miles (Shirley). Jay has now joined eternity with his parents, Charles and Ethel; sisters, Joyce and Margaret; brother, John.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Morning Star Fellowship, Pennsburg, PA on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 11 a.m.- 12 noon. Family greeting times will be held Friday, May 5 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, May 6, from 9-10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Pennsburg Fire Company https://pennsburgfire65.com/ and the Upper Perkiomen Valley Ambulance https://upperperkambulance.org/en/.

"Well done, good and faithful servant … Enter into the joy of your Lord." Matthew 25:23.
