Michael J. Sobjak
2023-04-10

            Michael J. Sobjak, 76, of Muncy, PA died on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 

Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.  He was the husband of Sharon G. (Conrad) Sobjak.

            He was born in Bally, PA and was a son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Henry) Sobjak Sr.  He attended the Pontifical College Josephinum of Columbus, OH, graduated from Kutztown University and attended classes at DeSales and Alvernia Universities.

            Mike served in the US Army from 1965-69.  During that time, he attended the Presidio Language School in Monterey, CA.  He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy, PA and the Knights of Columbus.

            He was self-employed and owner/operator of Sobjak's Market, Bally, PA and Sobjak's Market North, Sonestown, PA.  He coached and managed several adult fast-pitch softball teams.  He enjoyed hunting and taking walks in the woods while he was able. He also enjoyed watching Phillies, Eagles and Sixers games.  He greatly loved all his children and grandchildren and was so very proud of them.

            In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children: Christopher Sobjak (Jennifer); Lisa DuPree (Justin); grandchildren: Katelyn, Jacob, Autumn, Alainah and Jameson Sobjak; Paige and Piper Bennett; siblings: Antoinette Tirjan (Edward), Joseph Sobjak Jr. (Mary Ann); Mary Ellen Carpenter (the late Lloyd), Jane Keill (Geoffrey), Margaret "Peggy" Strunk (the late Earl), Bernard Sobjak (Donna), Edward Sobjak (Debbie), Stephen Sobjak (Linda), Mario Sobjak (Denise), Rita Kemp (Melvin), Francis "Frank" Sobjak (Lori) and many nieces and nephews.

            A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041.  A Funeral Mass will follow at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 610 Pine St., Bally, PA at 11 a.m.  Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
