Matthew S. Santangelo
2023-03-13

Matthew S. Santangelo was born on November 13, 1926 in Norristown,

Pennsylvania.

The son of Angeline and Matthew, he grew up with 6 siblings.

During WWII he was a Radar technician in the US Navy.

A graduate of Temple University and the University of Michigan Law School, he was admitted to the Bar of Pennsylvania in 1952.  He was a president of the Montgomery County Bar Association as well as the Master in Support.

He restored an historic farm in Pottstown with his late-wife, Hedy. One outlet for his life-long love of music was the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra, and he organized the Ballad of Valley Forge for the nation's bicentennial.

A licensed pilot, he traveled extensively throughout the world.  He was passionately inquisitive about everything he experienced in life.  This insatiable desire to learn was deliberately cultivated among his family and was contagious.  Retirement was spent researching, studying local archeology, publishing a book, obtaining a patent, wood-working, and exploring the internet.

He died peacefully in his sleep on February 24, 2023 at his retirement home in Springfield, VA.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, 5 children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.

His positive impact and kindness will continue to be felt in the world.
