During his presentation to the Douglass Township board of supervisors on Tuesday night, Chief Barry Templin requested approval for a general order for body worn cameras.

             The Emergency Services Board has reviewed the order extensively and recommended the approval of the general order. The board unanimously approved the general order for police to wear body worn cameras on duty.

            The general order document is a set of permanent orders that govern the duties and behavior of police on routine duty.

            Ambulance Chief John Doucette, an emergency services board member, also presented a copy of bylaws to the supervisors for review. These written rules will govern the actions of members.

            He also informed the supervisors that an investigation was opened in regard to a call about a hospice patient. The patient was in need of medical attention but emergency medical services and police were not dispatched until the woman was apparently "down" for an hour. The investigation seeks to determine why it took an hour for emergency services to be dispatched.

            Chairman Joshua Stouch announced that emergency service board meetings are open to the public. They are held the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m. "I would like to invite the public out," he said.

            In other news, Solicitor Wendy McKenna informed the board that the legal staff is reviewing three items: the vehicle towing policy; the Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue lease agreement; and the fire prevention ordinance. The documents will be on the agenda for the board meeting on March 6.

            Assistant Township Manager Andrew Duncan, who sat in for Manager Peter Hiryak, announced that the lighting and sign ordinances were recommended for approval by the planning agency. The Montgomery County Planning Agency is in the final steps of its review.

            In addition, the conditional final plan of the Embree Medical Facility, to be located at Route 100 and Grosser Road, will be presented to the supervisors at the March 6th meeting. The planning agency will be providing the final plan recommendations.
