Charisse L. Harwick
2023-01-26

Charisse L. Harwick, of Alburtis, PA, passed away on Monday, January 23,

2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. She was 65 years old.

Born in Pottstown, PA, she was the loving daughter of the late Stanley and Jeannette (Heimbach) Harwick.

Charisse was a 1975 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School and then earned her LPN from Reading Nursing School in 1977. She was employed as an LPN at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest for 37 years before retiring due to her cancer diagnosis.

She also earned her Veterinary Technician degree and worked with Alburtis Animal Hospital for three years.

Always creative with her gardens and care of her home, Charisse was happiest out of doors with nature. Animals needing medical care or a home usually found their way to her doorstep. However, her greatest passion was a  love for horses which started at a young age with her father who co-founded the Blue Spruce Riding Club. Fiercely independent and strong-willed, the physical work of making it on her own was something of which she was very proud.

Charisse is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Chris Harwick and wife, Mary, Stacy Whalen and husband, Michael, and Greg Harwick; sister-in-law, Deborah Harwick; and nieces and nephews, Kaleb Harwick, Troy, Jason and Sean Harwick, Aleka Smith and Jared Whalen, and Damian and Cassandra Harwick. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a brother, Kent Harwick.

A visitation will take place on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1244 St Pauls Church Rd, Pennsburg, PA 18073. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with a burial in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.

You may leave online condolences and share memories at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the The Humane Society Of Berks County, 1801 N 11th St., Reading, PA 19604.
