point lead before losing, 55-47, to Pottsgrove in the Pioneer Athletic Conference. The host Falcons posted 23 points in the fourth quarter. "Dan was the man last night," head coach Michael DeCarolis said of Carpenter, who delivered four 3-pointers. "He was doing it all for us."
However, Pottsgrove – which finished with 23 offensive rebounds – raced past the Tribe (2-9 overall, 0-3 PAC) during the final eight minutes. Gregory Rosenberger scored eight of his team-high 13 points in the fourth quarter. Gabriel Rinda added seven of his 13 during the quarter.
Despite the loss, DeCarolis lauded his team's effort. He said his players displayed as much passion, effort and energy as any game this season. "It was good to see," the coach said.
According to DeCarolis, Carpenter – who missed the last six games with a foot injury –found a groove late in the second quarter that continued into the third. The coach said foul trouble for two other starters forced him to play the senior captain more than initially planned. "I give a lot of credit to the athletic staff for getting him ready to play," DeCarolis said.
Sean Badea posted all nine of his points in the third quarter for the Indians, which had eight players score. Evan Bosler finished with seven points.
Carpenter added eight points in the third quarter, allowing them to enter the fourth quarter with a 41-32 advantage. After allowing just one turnover in the third quarter – and not permitting the Falcons a basket on their initial six possessions -- the Tribe committed eight turnovers in the fourth.
"This team has a very hard time putting four consistent quarters together," DeCarolis said. "During one quarter, things have a tendency to fall off the rails."
Owen Williams reached double figures against the Bullets on Thursday, Dec. 29 in the Fleetwood Tiger Classic Tournament. However, the Tribe suffered a 57-43 loss.
Williams finished with 15 points off the bench. Armani-Avant Brown scored eight points.Bosler delivered six points for the Indians, who trailed 29-20 at halftime. Braden Rieg notched five points.
Williams delivered 10 of his team's 13 points during the second quarter. However, the Bullets posted 18 points in the quarter to build a 29-20 halftime lead.
Rieg notched all of his points during the third quarter to help the Indians, who played without Carpenter and Mateo Schneidt, get within 42-35. However, Jayden Kanter scored seven of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter which allowed Brandywine Heights to pull away.
The team resumes its schedule Thursday with a home game against Frontier Division opponent Pope John Paul II. It will take on Methacton on the road Tuesday, Jan. 10, in an interdivisional contest.
