Zach Schwartz, a sophomore on Upper Perkiomen's football team, was named Pennsylvania's High School Player of the Week by Penn Live, a product of the Harrisburg Patriot News. Schwartz won the fan vote over 113 other candidates from games played the weekend of Sept. 1-3.

"It just felt amazing," Schwartz said according to a story posted at Pennlive.com. "I felt honored that I even got onto the list with all these amazing athletes, and it felt amazing that everybody supported me."
Schwartz led the Indians to a 31-14 non-league victory over Schuylkill Valley. He ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns. He also recorded two interceptions in just his second varsity start to help post their first win of the season.
The Upper Hanover resident – who was named the winner early Thursday morning –received 26,228 votes, 31.39 percent of all those cast online. Administrators allowed students to cast a vote during class. Schwartz's mother Rachelle publicized the nomination on social media, according to the information.
Schwartz credited one of his first youth football coaches, David Schmittinger, along with his family, friends, community and church with helping him win the award. Schmittinger gave the player the nickname "Hurricane," the story states.
