MontcoWorks Announces Free Training Courses
2022-08-10

For Careers in Technical Support and Digital Marketing

MontcoWorks and the Montgomery County Commerce Department are excited to announce a free training program for Montco residents seeking careers with two in-demand technology occupations. Facilitated by the County's training partner, NuPaths, these courses will train participants for entry-level technical support specialist or digital marketing assistant positions.

"Occupations in this sector are projected to outgrow the workforce over the next ten years, leaving high-paying jobs unfilled by Montgomery County career seekers," said Jennifer Butler, Executive Director of MontcoWorks. "MontcoWorks is proud to offer this entry point into a gainful career path."

Technical Support Specialist Program: Technical support specialists are at the forefront of computer and technology operations. They troubleshoot software, fix operating system issues, rebuild computers, and perform general maintenance on computer devices.

Digital Marketing Assistant Program: A digital marketing assistant works closely with the marketing team to implement online marketing plans and strategies.

Both training programs are offered at no cost to participants and last for three months from September 7, 2022 to December 23, 2022. Classes are held at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit located at 2 W. Lafayette St, Norristown, PA 19401 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Participants can earn up to eight college credits and up to six industry certificates from Adobe, Google, and Microsoft. People who enroll must have a high school diploma or a GED. No prior tech experience or training is required. This cohort is available to eligible customers of PA CareerLink® Montgomery County and the MontcoWorks NOW program for youth and young adults.

"With the ever-expanding dependence of businesses on IT and the continuous evolution of technology, there aren't enough people with the right skills to fill open jobs. NuPaths offers innovative, rigorous short-term training programs for people to develop the skills and earn the certifications needed for a well-paying tech career." said Andy Petroski, President of NuPaths.

NuPaths is an IT and technology workforce development training provider and a registered pre-apprenticeship provider co-founded by Harrisburg University of Science & Technology.

MontcoWorks selected NuPaths through competitive procurement to provide career seekers with an entry-level pathway into the Information Technology industry, a priority sector in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County career seekers interested in this training cohort or other career services can call (610) 270-3429 or visit PA CareerLink® Montgomery County or MontcoWorks NOW for more information. Applications will be accepted until September 2, 2022, or until all seats are filled.
