A New Hanover man faces child pornography charges. Local authorities arrested Samuel David Comeriato, 21, of Big Road on July 12.
Comeriato is accused of 11 felonies from a November 2021 incident. New Hanover police charged him with 10 counts of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, according to information posted on a state judicial website.
Police filed charges against him July 6 in the Douglass Township court of District Judge Maurice Saylor. They arrested Comeriato five days later.
In March, a New Hanover detective learned that someone downloaded two videos appearing to be child pornography. He determined that person to be Comeriato, according to the police criminal complaint filed in Saylor's court.
On March 21, a search warrant allegedly identified 50 videos related to child erotica viewed by Comeriato. Further information identified 80 entries he allegedly made between Nov. 6 and Dec. 1, 2021, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
A May 12 search warrant, served at his residence, allegedly turned up two mobile devices with files of children under the age of 18 engaged in prohibited sexual acts, the legal document states.
District Judge Edward C. Kropp Sr. set bail in the case at $25,000 unsecured during a July 12 preliminary arraignment. A preliminary hearing, before Saylor, has been scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on Aug. 2.
