2022-07-18

Dale B. Swenk, 80, of Perkiomenville, PA, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022. He was the loving husband of Holly L. (Schell) Swenk, with whom he would have shared 53 years of marriage on Christmas Eve.

Born in East Greenville, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Esther (Gracely) Swenk.

Dale was a 1960 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School, where he was a proud football player. He then joined the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War; earning a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge. After honorable discharge, he began his 50 year long career at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. in Pottstown, PA as a tire builder and then a laborer when it transitioned to Occidental Chemical Corporation.

He enjoyed the outdoors; especially hunting and feeding the birds. He was a family man and his grandson, Ian, brought him immeasurable pride and joy throughout his life's journey; he loved every moment he spent with him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Matthew Swenk and wife, Marie; grandson, Ian Swenk; his brother, Robert Swenk; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister, Nancy Nyce.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 10 to 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to The Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Road, Suite 100, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
