After receiving an unpleasant surprise at the high bid amounts for the removal of dead trees on Hollyberry Road, the Hereford Board of Supervisors considered their options at their Tuesday, July 5 meeting.
Engineer Jennifer Van Dyke said that there were potential contractors who did not submit a bid because it did not fit the schedule. If the project were re-bid, she noted, and pushed back to a fall or early winter time frame, they might get a couple of more bids.
Maintenance supervisor Chris Day will be attending the second monthly meeting on July 19 to discuss the project further.
Van Dyke also reported on the replacement of pipes on Spring Hill Road and said that she had to discuss a permanent stormwater easement with a property owner.
In the solicitor's report, the supervisors scheduled the public hearing for the repeal of the dead tree ordinance for August 2, and authorized Solicitor Eugene Orlando to advertise the hearing.
The supervisors also discussed possibilities for a new township newsletter, and a new host for the township website. Township secretary/treasurer Diane Hollenbach said that assistant secretary Louisa Masemore had the new website ready to go as soon as a new host was found.
