Ella Hurter denied Upper Perkiomen's bid for a Pioneer Athletic Conference softball title Tuesday. The Boyertown pitcher led her team to a 2-0 victory in the championship game at Bear Park.
Hurter, a sophomore lefthander, surrendered just one hit and registered 10 strikeouts. The host Bears (15-4) scored single runs in the first and third innings off Tribe starter Madalyn Dyer.
The Indians (13-7) managed just two base runners. Ashley Forrest reached on an infield error with one out in the third inning. Makenzie Schaffer broke up a no-hitter with a line single to left field two innings later.
Dyer absorbed the mound loss. The Upper Perkiomen junior permitted six hits and one walk while striking out four.
