It appears that Republican State Senator Doug Mastriano will face Democrat Attorney General Josh Shapiro in November's General Election for Governor of Pennsylvania.

            Mastriano topped a field of eight other Republicans to win the nomination.  Shapiro was unopposed.

            Pennsylvania's Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman won over three other candidates to be on the ballot for U.S. Senator.  The results of the Republican race for Senator are too close to call with Dr. Mehmet Oz holding a slight lead over Dave McCormick.  It is a race so tight that it could trigger an automatic recount.

            In the race for Lieutenant Governor, Democrat Austin Davis will be on the November ballot as will Republican Carrie DelRosso.

            For a seat in the United States House of Representatives, the primary race for the 1st District will see incumbent Republican Brian Fitzpatrick face Democrat Ashley Ehasz; in the 4th District, Republican Sergio Christian Nascimento won over Daniel L. Burton, Jr. to face incumbent Democrat Madeleine Dean Cunnane who ran unopposed.

            Democrat incumbent Mary Gay Scanlon will oppose Republican David Lewczyk Galluch in the race for the 5th District.  Both candidates ran unopposed.

            In the 7th Congressional District, incumbent Democrat Susan Ellis Wild ran unopposed.  The race for the Republican candidacy has Kevin Willard Dellicker and Lisa Jane Scheller separated by only a few hundred votes.

.           The race to replace retiring State Senator Bob Mensch in the 24th District will see Democrat Jill Dennin face current State Representative Tracy Pennycuick (147) in November.

            Democrat Kevin Branco and incumbent Republican Milou Mackenzie ran unopposed for the seat in the State House of Representatives for the 131st Legislative District.

            The counting of over 900,000 mail-in and provisional ballots for the May 17 primary is well underway but could add days until tallies are complete.

            Also slowing down the final reporting of results is a problem that occurred in Lancaster County that affected some 22,000 mail-in ballots.  A wrong ID code printed on the ballots prevented the scanning machines from reading them.  The problem will force election workers to hand-mark fresh ballots.  One worker will read the ballot information while a second records them.  A third worker will oversee the process.  The process could take several days.

            Lancaster is the sixth most populous county in the Commonwealth.

            Election results are unofficial until certified.
