Harold C. Hieter
2022-03-14

            Harold C. Hieter, 91, of Quakertown, passed away March 10, 2022, at Phoebe Health Center, Richlandtown.

            Born November 26, 1930, in Milford Township, he was the son of the late D. Frank and Helen H. (Miller) Hieter, and husband of the late Doris N. (Smith) Hieter, to whom he was married 69 years.

            He graduated from Quakertown High School in 1948, and later attended Drexel University earning his Bachelor of Science degree in 1965.

            Harold proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

            He worked as a Chemist for W.R. Grace in Quakertown for 40 years.  Harold was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pennsburg where he served many years as president for the church council and was the adult bible class Sunday school teacher.  For 25 years, he was a member of the Milford Township Planning Commission.

            He enjoyed attending the Grundsow Lodge meetings and served on the board of Life Long Learning.  His hobbies included growing and canning tomatoes, watching sports & current events on TV.

            Harold is survived by daughter Susan Gross, grand-dog Luna, son David Hieter, granddaughter Megan (Gross) Sauter, husband Andy, and great-grand-dog Jacqi. He was predeceased by son-in-law James Gross.

            Interment at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Spinnerstown.

            Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 81 Main Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073.
