A Lower Frederick man is accused of assaulting three people at a residence in Upper Salford on Jan. 30. Nathan Scott Hamburg, 23, of North Gravel Pike, faces four felony counts and related misdemeanor charges from the incident.
Hamburg, who has been charged with one count of felony strangulation and two counts of aggravated assault, was taken into custody outside a Salford Station Road residence following a short foot pursuit. The man allegedly ran into the woods while he was talking to a trooper, who responded at 5:15 p.m., according to the police criminal complaint filed in the Red Hill Court of District Judge Maureen Coggins.
Written statements provided to authorities by the victims stated that Hamburg arrived and began arguing with them. He allegedly placed his hands around the neck of a minor and choked him.
Hamburg is also accused of throwing another person down the stairs of a deck. He allegedly wrapped his hands around the neck of a third person and threatened to kill the person. Hamburg is also accused of holding that person down on a couch and taking the person's cell phone to prevent a call for help, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
As Hamburg left the residence, he became very aggressive and refused to speak to the responding trooper. The suspect also repeatedly told the trooper to leave the property before attempting to run away, according to the legal document.
District Judge Christopher J. Cerski set bail in the case at $50,000 unsecured, according to a Jan. 30 preliminary arraignment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, according to information posted on a state judicial website.
