UPVCC 24th Annual Community and Commerce Awards

Uplifting messages and inspiring examples of leadership in our community were demonstrated at the UPV Chamber's 24th Annual Community and Commerce Awards Celebration on June 17 at the Loft at Sweet Water Country Club.

Valley Choral Society opened the event with a beautiful performance of the National Anthem, and guests enjoyed a breakfast prepared by Alan Kern, Sodexo-Perkiomen School. Attendees included local municipal officials, the ministerium, law enforcement representatives and Chamber members.

Following sponsor introductions, each award recipient was presented by the individual who nominated them: PerkUp Award for Education – Mark Devey, Perkiomen School; Outstanding Small Business Award – Melanie Cunningham, Titanium Finishing Company; and Wallace H. Bieler Distinguished Leadership Award – Ed Stauffer. Senator Bob Mensch (24th Legislative District) and Representative Milou Mackenzie (131st Legislative District) were present to recognize the recipients with legislative citations and congratulatory remarks.

The Chamber also presented the Distinguished Service Award to Eric Jarrell of the Montgomery County Planning Commission for his support of the Chamber and the regional sign program.

The awards celebration offered the opportunity to commemorate the retirement of UPV Chamber President Luanne B. Stauffer. Luanne has left her mark on each person she has encountered in her 25 years as Chamber President. Senator Mensch and Representative Mackenzie both commented on her years of service and presented her with legislative citations. The UPV Chamber Board honored Luanne's dedication to the Chamber and community by presenting her with a newly created award in her name – the Luanne B. Stauffer Legacy Award.

The UPV Chamber thanks the sponsors of the event: Gillespie Electric, Inc., PPL Electric Utilities, QNB Bank, UNIVEST-Banking, Insurance, Investments and the Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA. The Chamber also thanks The Loft at Sweet Water Country Club, Sodexo-Perkiomen School, Steve Pestrock Photography, and Valley Choral Society.
