There's a possibility for another small development in Red Hill - this time, directly behind the Turkey Hill store.
The Red Hill Borough Council heard options for the development from Cynthia Smith, representing the developer, at their Wednesday, June 9 meeting via Zoom.
Smith presented two plans: the first, for eight twin homes facing Sixth Street but accessed in the back by an alley off Graber Alley, or 18 apartments with a parking lot in the rear, They would also be accessed off Graber Alley. Both plans would include a sidewalk along Graber.
The majority of council members were not enthusiastic about apartments, with comments about the lack of investment in the community by apartment dwellers and the transient nature of "apartment people."
The council was more supportive of the twin home plan, which would include two car garages or two parking spaces.
In roads news, the council approved an ordinance concerning traffic restrictions, specifically about no parking on the south side of East Third Street, for a distance of 100 feet from the intersection with Main Street, and also a fire zone on Jefferson Street.
The council plans to return to in-person meetings either for a second meeting on June 22 or for the July meeting. The July planning commission meeting will be in person.
Following the meeting the council met in executive session to discuss personnel matters. They determined that the council president or vice president would handle the roadmaster's responsibilities in his absence.
