Marlborough Police Planning National Night Out
Written by Ernie Quatrani, Correspondent
2021-05-26

National Night Out returns to the Upper Perkiomen Valley this August. The event, observed in all fifty states, is a chance for first responders and the public to interact in a friendly setting.

"This is a great event for families and friends to come out and get to know their area emergency services," said Marlborough Police Chief Darren Morgan.  "We want everyone to have fun and at the same time get an education on what we do and the equipment we use to keep them protected."

The Marlborough Police Department is taking the lead in organizing the Valley's NNO with the cooperation of other first responders, businesses and organizations, among them The Barndt Agency Inc, St. John's Church, Green Lane Fire Company and Project Live.

"We are hoping to get a great turnout from other departments, first responders and Valley organizations that provide a service to our community in their time of need," Morgan said.

The Valley's NNO is scheduled for the grounds of St. John's Church in Green Lane on Saturday, August 14 from 3 to 7 p.m. It will feature music, games and food as well as demonstrations, youth events and exhibits.

Confirmed participants include Montgomery County Central SWAT, with a vehicle and display table, and Upper Gwynedd Police Department, with its Pennsylvania Liquor Control Educational Trailer.

Morgan added, "We are still trying to get a helicopter, sheriff's bomb squad, fingerprinting, among some other new and exciting activities and displays."

Marlborough hosted the event for the first time in August 2019 to rave reviews and cancelled last year because of the pandemic.
