Written by Staff Report
2021-02-24

Eight entrants from the Upper Perkiomen girls swim team qualified for the District One Class 2A championships. Darragh Martin and Devin Romanowski qualified in two individual events. Two teams (the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 free relay) also qualified for the meet, which is scheduled for Feb. 26 at the Graham Aquatic Center, located at the York YMCA.

Martin enters districts as the fifth seed in the 200 yard IM and the No. 6 seed in the 100 backstroke. Romanowski will be the fourth seed in the 500 free and eighth in the 50 free.
Mia Hang will join Martin in the 200 IM as the No. 6 seed. Emily Francisco is seeded 6th in the 100 butterfly.

Sean Lyman and Kai Hang will represent the boys in the District One Class 3A meet, scheduled for Feb. 27 at the same facility.

Lyman qualified in two events. He will be the seventh seed in the 200 IM and the No. 9 seed in the 500 free. Kang earned the No. 9 seed in the 100 breaststroke.  Martin, Hang, Francisco and Romanowski will compete in both relay races for the Indians.

The Tribe's 200 Medley Relay finished three spots out of the meet. Head coach Brien Kalnoski described it as a significant accomplishment.

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Indians lost 94-76 to Phoenixville. Romanowski scored two individual first-place finishes in the 50 free and the 500 free. Martin won the 100 backstroke. Both district qualifying relay teams finished first, as well.
