Judge, Jury, and Executioner

The death tolls continue to rise in the United States during some peaceful demonstrations that turn violent.

The death tolls continue to rise of innocent bystanders being killed by errant shots fired for whatever reason.

            This is madness.

COVID-19 is not the only curse that blankets our nation right now.  The unrest that has, and is, occurring over racial inequities is growing.  There are many people and groups of people who are working hard to bring those inequities to an end and work towards solutions that will bring equality to all.  They are doing it without violence.

They must be commended and we all have a responsibility to work towards the same goals.

There are too many haters, fraudsters, and rumor mongers who prey on the gullibility of people in feeble attempts to raise their own profile.

While our cities were still burning from the fires of rioters sparked by previous incidents, another police involved shooting occurred earlier this week.  This time in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

It didn't take long for those who feed on violence to proclaim war on the police.  Problem is, that war is taking a far worse toll on unintended targets.  People and business that those same rioters depend on after the fire is out and the smoke has cleared.

People are dying, children are dying, homes and businesses are being destroyed, and fraudsters who pretend to be leaders proclaim that it is the only way to achieve their goals.  To that I ask, what are their goals and how do they differ from those who work towards a solution in a peaceful manner?

Martin Luther King once said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction ... The chain reaction of evil - hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation."

Too many haters are too quick to form their conclusions to all of the issues facing us today – truth be damned.

Yes, there's no question that information regarding many of the incidents is too long in coming, and people have the right, and duty, to question their officials about that.  And, to demand answers.

Setting about your neighbors wielding a pitchfork and torch will affect your neighbors, not elected officials.

Do you trust those leading the riots to make the decision that looting, burning, and rush to judgement are the only way to bring peace.

Too many people are in a hurry to be the judge, jury, and executioner.
