The Upper Perkiomen School Board is expected to take action on a motion approving the high school athletic teams' participation in fall athletics based on guidelines determined by the PIAA during Thursday's workshop meeting.
Kimberly Bast, the district's director of curriculum and instruction, and Sarah Rothermel, its curriculum supervisor, are scheduled to give a presentation about the first two weeks of school in a virtual environment, according to the document.
The members will also consider an action item approving additional bus stops for students attending the Western Montgomery Technical Career Center while the district is in a totally virtual learning environment, according to a meeting agenda posted on the district's website.
During the hybrid meeting, to be held simultaneously at 7 p.m. on Zoom and at the auditorium at the Upper Perkiomen Middle School – located on Montgomery Avenue in Upper Hanover – the members are expected to vote to temporarily suspend multiple positions. They include six kitchen managers, one assistant manager, 18 food service workers, one district courier, six instructional aides and 10 cafeteria/playground aides.
Additionally, the members will consider an action item to hire a new staff nurse at Marlborough Elementary. They are also expected to vote on the appointment of Ben Kunkle as the new head middle school football coach.
