COVID-19 Update

            Nine new presumptive COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed in Douglass Township during a seven-day period ending Wednesday. Overall, 21 people living in the municipality have been diagnosed with the virus through April 29, according to information posted by Montgomery County officials.

            Five new cases were diagnosed in Lower Salford and New Hanover during the same time period. Lower Salford leads all municipalities in the Town and Country coverage area with 41 cases. New Hanover is second with 25 cases, while Douglass is third. Twenty four presumptive positives have been diagnosed in Perkiomen Township. In Upper Hanover, 13 people have been diagnosed, according to a map posted on the county's website.       

            Two new cases were diagnosed in Lower Frederick. One new case has been identified in Pennsburg, East Greenville, Marlborough and Upper Salford. No new cases were identified in Red Hill, and Upper Frederick.

            Overall, seven cases have been diagnosed for residents in Upper Salford. Six cases each have been identified in East Greenville, Marlborough, Upper Frederick and Lower Frederick. Schwenksville borough has experienced five cases, followed by Red Hill (four), Pennsburg and Green Lane (two each).

            In terms of zip code areas, Quakertown (18951) – which includes Milford Township, Trumbauersville, a portion of Richland Township, and a small portion of Lehigh County – has accounted for 101 positive overall cases. According to a map posted on the Pennsylvania Department of Health's website, 536 negative tested have been recorded.

            In Bechtelsville (19505), which includes a section of Montgomery County, nine people have tested positives, which 35 negative tests have been reported. In Barto (19504) – which includes 60 percent of Berks County residents and 40 percent in Montgomery County, six people have tested positive for the virus. Fifty five tests have come back negative.

            Elsewhere in Berks County, between one and four positive cases have been reported inside the Hereford (18056) zip code.  Eighteen negative cases have been reported. In Bally (19503), no probable cases, and 12 negatives test results have been recorded. 

            Residents in the Zionsville (18092) zip code – 90 percent of which is located in Lehigh County, and 10 percent in Berks County – shows one to four positive cases, no probable cases and 47 negative tests.

            Pennsylvania officials announced 44,366 confirmed and probable cases during the pandemic. They also confirmed 2,195 total deaths, including 870 between April 22 and April 29, according to information posted on the Department of Health's website.

            The total amount of cases in the Commonwealth has increased by more than 9,300 during the last seven days. People between the ages of 25 and 49 account for the largest percentage of the cases (38 percent).  Residents between 50 and 60 make up 27 percent, while people 65 and older account for 26 percent.

            In Montgomery County, the death toll related to the pandemic grew from 230 to 329. The county learned of 883 new presumptive positive cases, raising the total amount to 4,177.

            Bucks County reported 729 new cases and 59 new deaths, increasing its totals to 2,733 and 185, respectively.

            In Berks County, 31 people died from the virus during the last seven days, increasing the total to 116. Overall, 2,637 cases – including 568 new ones – have been reported in the county.

            In Lehigh County, officials learned of 23 new COVID-19 deaths. Overall 72 people have died. In the last week, 345 new cases were reported, which pushed the total to 2,719.
