Two Charged in East Greenville Assault
Written by Bradley Schlegel, Staff Writer
2020-02-26

Two male juveniles have been charged in the Feb. 1 assault of an East Greenville boy. The charges were lodged Feb. 20 in the Montgomery County Juvenile Court at the county's Youth Center in Norristown, according to Randy Morris, chief of the Borough of East Greenville police department,

One male has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangering of another person. The other is accused of simple assault and reckless endangering of another person, according to a Feb. 25 email message from the chief.

Neither boy is in custody, according to Morris. He wrote that the next step for both is a juvenile court proceeding.

"I don't anticipate any additional arrests at this time," the chief stated in the electronic message.

Earlier this month, Mayor Keith Gerhart relayed information provided by the police chief that the juvenile was beaten unconscious by four males in the area of 4th and Railroad streets after approaching the victim and his friend. Morris described the confrontation as not random.

"All the involved parties know each other," the chief said two weeks ago.

A passerby driving in the area witnessed the attack and sounded his car horn and the juvenile attackers ran off, according to an email message received from Gerhart. Morris said previously that the victim – who was transported to Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia – suffered a severe concussion, a laceration to an ear that required surgery and multiple bruises to his upper body.
