Pennsburg Borough Council will reopen its 2020 budget. The members will discuss the issue during a special meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. on Jan 20, according to an advertisement received by the Town and Country.
"I believe some line items will probably change," administrative Manager Lisa Hiltz said Monday afternoon.
According to President Diane Stevens, council will adjust borough income to reflect actual year-end numbers and revise expense accounts to balance the increased revenue anticipated. She stated the actions are permitted by the commonwealth's Borough Code.
"We are not raising taxes," Stevens wrote in a text message received Monday.
The language of the legal advertisement reserves council's right to discuss and act on any other business that may come before it.
During the Jan. 6 reorganization meeting, council voted to table discussions regarding potential raises for municipal employees. Municipal officials were not told where the money for the raises would come from in the budget.
In December, council approved a 2020 balanced budget totaling $2.148 million. The budget holds the line on taxes, maintaining a rate of 7.222 mills.
