Honoring Our Veterans
Written by Photos by Bob Esposito
2019-05-29

The Memorial Day honors started Monday morning with veterans marching up

Main Street from the Red Hill VFW Post 5954 to the Red Hill War memorial where

they held a service and wreath laying.

Scouts stand at attention for the playing

of the Star Spangled Banner at the start

of the ceremonies at New Goshenhoppen

Church Cemetery.

Clyde Hoch, a Pennsburg resident, served as

the event's featured speaker.  Hoch, who

served in Viet nam as a tank commander,

talked about the importance of Memorial

Day and local veterans who gave their lives

for the American people.

Members of the honor guard, made up of veterans, fire a volley over the grave of

Marine Private Leroy M. Heiserman, who was killed in action during WWII while

serving on Peleliu Island in the South Pacific.
