Work to Begin May 28 on Two Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) Bridges
Written by PennDOT Press Release
2019-05-14

            Two Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) bridges will be closed and detoured and a third bridge will be reduced to a single lane in Upper Salford and Marlborough townships, Montgomery County beginning Tuesday, May 28, for bridge replacements over Unami Creek, Ridge Valley Creek and the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

            The work schedule is: Tuesday, May 28, through late fall, Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) will be closed between Thompson Road and Gerryville Pike. During the closure, passenger vehicles will be directed to use Old Sumneytown Pike, Perkiomenville Road, Crusher Road and Route 29 (Gravel Pike). Truck traffic will be directed to use Route 113 (Harleysville Pike), Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Route 29 (Gravel Pike). Local traffic will be directed to use Zepp Road, Hill Road, Dietz Mill Road and Route 563 (Ridge Road);

            Tuesday, May 28, through late fall, Long Mill Road will be closed between Moyer Road and Bergey Road. During the closure, all motorists will be detoured over Morwood Road, Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) and Old Sumneytown Pike; and Tuesday, May 28, through spring 2020, Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) will be reduced to a single lane between Long Mill Road and Shady Lane. Traffic will be controlled using a temporary traffic signal.

            Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone for local residents. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas because backups and delays will occur.

            H & K Group, Inc., of Skippack, PA is the general contractor on the $9,565,527 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
