Under this improvement project, Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) is expected to be closed and detoured later this spring through November for the construction of new bridges over Unami Creek and Ridge Valley Creek. Work is planned on both bridges simultaneously to minimize traffic impacts.
The Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) bridge over the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek will remain open during construction as the bridge will be built in stages using half-width construction. This work is expected to begin this spring and finish in spring 2020.
H & K Group, Inc., of Skippack, PA is the general contractor on the $9,565,527 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds. The entire project is expected to be completed in spring of 2021.
