Fire Damages Home in New Hanover Twp.
Written by Larry Roeder, Editor
2019-04-03

A fire broke out in a home in the 2200 block of Broomstick Road in New Hanover Township around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

New Hanover Fire Chief Bill Moyer arrived on the scene shortly after the initial call which dispatched units from New Hanover, Upper Frederick, and Green Lane Fire Companies; and requested the second alarm assignment.

Additional units were dispatched from Pennsburg, East Greenville, Upper Salford, and Eastern Berks Fire Companies.  A fire unit from Red Hill was dispatched to fill tanker trucks at Sixth Street and Montgomery Avenue in Upper Hanover Township.

High winds fed the fire and helped it spread into the nearby wooded area prompting firefighters to battle the fire on two fronts.

About 40 volunteer firefighters fought the blaze that fully involved the 1-1/2 story log-cabin style home.

Emergency Medical Service units from Harleysville and Upper Perkiomen, along with canteen units from North Penn Goodwill were also dispatched to the scene.

According to Montgomery County records, the property is owned by Paula and Alexander Hradkowsky.

Moyer declared the fire under control at 6:25 p.m.  No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were still on the scene at press-time.
