A one-car crash took the lives of two area teenagers and seriously injured

another when the vehicle they were traveling in struck a tree during a snowstorm around 5:30 on Sunday afternoon.

According to a Pa. State Police report, Michelle Goodwin, 18, of Pennsburg and Daniel Pierson, 18, of East Greenville were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Route 663, about 1,250-feet west of Brinkman Road in Milford Township.

The 17-year-old driver of the vehicle, from Pottstown, was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital with "suspected serious injuries" according to the report.  The name of the minor was not released.

Police reported that the crash occurred as the 1995 Ford pickup truck the victims were traveling in was heading east on Route 663 (John Fries Highway) between Klines Mill Road and Brinkman Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

According to reports, Goodwin and Pierson were traveling, after working at the Pennsburg Dairy Queen, with the 17-year-old to get something to eat.

State police also reported that no charges were filed and that the investigation is ongoing.

Fire, rescue, and fire police units from Milford Township and Pennsburg Fire Companies responded along with fire police from Red Hill Fire Company.  Emergency medical units from St. Luke's Hospital also responded.

Route 663 was closed in both directions between Klines Mill and Brinkman Roads for more than seven hours.

At 5:30 on Monday afternoon, dozens of family and friends gathered at the Dairy Queen in Pennsburg for a vigil.  There, they shared memories and condolences with each other.

Services for Michelle Goodwin are planned for Friday, March 8, at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St. in East Greenville, with a viewing from 9 – 10:45 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m.

Services for Daniel Pierson are planned for Saturday, March 9, at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home with a viewing on Friday March 8 from 6 - 8 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. - 12:45 p..m. prior to the service.

Separate GoFundMe fundraisers have been set up for Michelle Goodwin and Daniel Pierson to help defray funeral costs.
