Edward O. Weiss, 94, formerly of Palm, PA, passed away peacefully at Marquette Hospice House in Meadville, PA on December 25, 2018.

Ed, a noted hunter, bowman, golfer and all-around sportsman, was the proprietor of the historic Palm Hotel for 17 years. Ed's parents: the late Herman and Susanna (Jabs) Weiss emigrated from Germany in the early 1900's and acquired three historic Perkiomen Valley Hotels. These hotels were part of the Valley's social and business life since before the turn of the century. Ed's brother, the late Herman Weiss was the proprietor of the Green Lane Hotel, his sister: the late Sue (Schelkopf) along with her husband Stanley were the proprietors of the Sumneytown Hotel.

He graduated from East Greenville High School in 1941, joined the United States Navy and served honorably during WWII in Pearl Harbor for two years. He married his high school sweetheart, Grace (Urffer) in 1943.

He was Indian Valley Country Club Golf Champion. He skied throughout the state. He hunted multiple states with his bow.

Ed was a founding member of the Perkiomen Valley Bowmen, and extensively hunted in Sullivan County, PA where he was a member of the Green Lane Club, and later, owned his own hunting lodge. Ed shot the largest buck of his life from a tree with a bow when he was 79.

In 1965, Ed married Anne (Stoddard) of Perkiomenville, and settled at Ziegler Rd, on Mill Hill where he loved to hunt. Ed and Anne were long time, active members of Shepherd of the Hills UCC, in Bechtelsville, PA.

After Ann passed away in 2007, Ed was invited to join Max's home in Meadville, where Max is an attorney, and where Ed felt at home in the Pennsylvania mountains.
