Game. Gatto scored her 100th career goal to lead Team Liberty to a 5-3 win over Team Freedom on Sunday at Bryn Mawr College's Applebee Field.
"I am so happy I was able to reach this goal," Gatto wrote in a text message received Wednesday morning. "I was able to reach it because of all the teammates I have had over the years. I have always been surrounded by the best players and teammates at Upper Perk."
Gatto was happy that Indians head coach Jamie Warren witnessed the milestone tally, which clinched the victory for her team. The player described her appearance representing her school and the Pioneer Athletic Conference as an honor.
"It was a lot of fun, Gatto wrote. "I liked getting to play with people that are usually my competitors."
In October, the attacker helped lead the Indians to the Pioneer Athletic Conference's Final Four playoffs and a berth in the District One Class 2A playoffs. She scored twice in the 5-4 double overtime loss to Gwynedd Mercy Academy on Oct. 23 to finish her Upper Perkiomen career with 99 career goals. Gatto scored twice to help rally her team from a 4-1 deficit.
"Of course I would have preferred to have scored my 100th goal in our district game so we could have continued on (in the playoffs)," she wrote.
