Henry “Hank” Whittaker
2018-10-23

            Henry "Hank" James Whittaker, 91, of Allentown, and formerly of

Pennsburg, passed away October 21, 2018.  He was the beloved husband of Geraldine (Delestowicz).  Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Horace and Mary (Vanderhershen) Whittaker. 

            He was a Navy veteran of both WWII and Korea. Hank was a contractor in the Upper Perkiomen Valley for many years. He is a former Zoning Officer and Building Inspector for the Borough of Pennsburg, and served on the Upper Hanover Authority. 

            He was a member of Pennsburg United Church of Christ, where he was the past president of Consistory, and a past member of the Cemetery and Search committees.  Hank was also a member of the American Legion, Post #184, Palm; was past president of the Upper Perkiomen Lions Club; a former member of the Upper Hanover Historical Committee, the Lehigh Valley Naval Reserve Assn, and a member of the USS Topeka Reunion.

            Surviving with his wife, are children: Henry James Whittaker Jr., and his wife, Dianna, of Zionsville; Robert Whittaker, and his wife, Ruthann, of Pennsburg; Mary Cameron, of Allentown; and Susan Schirk, of Phoenixville; sister: Mildred Halket, of Marlton, NJ; grandchildren: James, Michael, Kelly, Tiffany, Adam, Tyler, Christopher, and Elizabeth, and a great grandson, William.  He was pre-deceased by his brother, William; his sister, Jayne Tomlin; his son-in-law, John Cameron; and his brother-in-laws: Howard Tomlin and Donald Halkert.

            Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg.  A viewing will be from 2-3 p.m.  Interment will follow at Pennsburg UCC Cemetery.

            In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pennsburg UCC, 775 Main Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073.
