He enjoyed being out in the fresh air and listening to bluegrass gospel music.  He was a longtime member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Zionsville, PA, where he served as a former church trustee.

Surviving along with his wife are three sons, Blaine Flexer and wife, Cheryl of Fogelsville, Travis Flexer and wife, Christina of Alburtis, Emery Flexer and wife, Monaca of Emmaus; brothers: Clinton Flexer and wife, Patricia, James Flexer, husband of the late Lois, and Kenneth Flexer and wife, Karen, all of Emmaus; three grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob and Thomas; three sisters-in-law, Alice Arndt, wife of the late Aurel, Merle, wife of Richard Leh, and Norma, wife of Richard Flexer; a brother-in-law, Russell Stauffer; and many nieces and nephews.

He is pre-deceased by a sister, Joyce Herb and her husband, the late Harold and a sister-in-law, Blanche Stauffer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Salem United Methodist Church, 6440 Powder Valley Rd., Zionsville, PA 18092. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
